When I first got told I was gluten-intolerant it made me really aware of how much gluten was in everything around me. At restaurants, at friends' houses, at home. It really limited my food options. Especially with cakes. I really wanted tasty gluten-free cakes. And I couldn't find it anywhere. 

Even when I could find gluten-free cakes, they'd often look nice but wouldn't taste as good as they looked. I wanted cakes that had both those factors. In fact, the decorations didn't even matter as much.That's where the name Pretty Messy Cakes comes from. My cakes aren't fancy elaborate works of art but I doubt you'll find tastier gluten-free cakes around!

After years of experimenting with different gluten-free cake recipes I started selling them to friends and family during the 2020 lockdown period. I've had really good feedback from others that are gluten-free as well that have also struggled to find good cakes. So I started this website so I could share my treats with as many people as possible. What are you going to try first?
